Job Summary
The Frontier NOC Engineer is responsible for 24x7 monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network services to ensure high availability and performance of Frontier’s telecom and data networks. The role involves proactive fault detection, incident management, escalation, and coordination with internal teams and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor network infrastructure using NMS tools to identify alarms, outages, and performance issues
Perform first-level troubleshooting for network, voice, data, and backbone issues
Create, update, and manage incident tickets following ITIL processes
Escalate issues to L2/L3 teams and vendors as per defined escalation matrix
Track incidents until resolution and ensure timely customer and internal communication
Perform basic diagnostics on routers, switches, firewalls, and transmission links
Monitor SLAs and ensure adherence to operational targets
Document incidents, root cause details, and resolution actions
Support scheduled maintenance activities and change implementations
Coordinate with field teams and other NOCs for restoration activities
Required Skills & Technical Knowledge
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs)
Knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals
Familiarity with telecom technologies (MPLS, Fiber, Leased Lines, VoIP – preferred)
Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows systems is an advantage
