Windows Tower Lead Job Description

Role description

We are seeking a highly skilled Wintel Tower Lead with expertise in Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise-scale environments, strong scripting capabilities, and a deep understanding of Active Directory, Certificate Management, Patch Management, Cisco UCS, Networking,  Automation and Storage/Backup solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructures.

Deploy and administer virtualized environments using VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud-based platforms, primarily on Azure and IAM

Manage and maintain Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services.

Oversee patching, security updates, and compliance using enterprise patch management tools. (SCCM, Intune, ManageEngine Endpoint solutions)

Develop and automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or Ansible to improve efficiency.

Support and administer Cisco UCS B & C class servers HP, Dell blade, racking and stacking including firmware updates and hardware troubleshooting.

Manage Storage (SAN/NAS) and Backup solutions to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness.

Implement and maintain cloud-based infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) following security, scalability, and cost optimization best practices.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of mission-critical BFSI applications.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and provide resolution for server, storage, and backup incidents.

Maintain documentation, SOPs, and best practices for all infrastructure and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

10+ years of experience as a Wintel Lead or similar role.

Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Expertise in VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and cloud virtualization.

Solid understanding of Active Directory, LDAP, Certificate Management, and authentication mechanisms.

Hands-on experience with patch management and vulnerability remediation.

Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible).

Expertise in managing Cisco UCS B & C class hardware.

Strong knowledge of enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Rubrik).

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud migration strategies.

Basic to advanced Linux administration skills for hybrid environments.

Experience with high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

Familiarity with IT security, compliance, and regulatory standards.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as MCSE, VCP, AWS/Azure/GCP Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco UCS Certified, RHCE, or Terraform/Ansible certifications.

Experience implementing HA/DR solutions for Windows, VMware, and cloud environments.

Exposure to SIEM tools, endpoint security, and vulnerability management.
